Where a Swedish massage glides over the surface to relax you, deep tissue massage slows right down and uses firmer, more focused pressure to reach the deeper layers of muscle. Your therapist may use forearms, knuckles or thumbs to work along tight bands and knotted areas, particularly around the shoulders, upper back and neck. Some areas may feel tender during the treatment, especially where knots have built up, but your therapist will work within your comfort level. Avoid heavy training straight after your appointment if you can.
