What is the Derma R|F Pro and how does it work?
The Derma R|F Pro is a radiofrequency (RF) microneedling device made for clinics and salons by Derma Group, a UK aesthetics equipment company. Microneedling uses very fine needles to create tiny, controlled channels in the skin, which triggers the skin's natural repair response. The Derma R|F Pro adds radiofrequency energy delivered through the needles, gently heating the deeper layers of the skin. Derma Group says this combined mechanical and thermal effect is intended to support collagen and elastin remodelling. The needle depth can be adjusted from 0.1mm to 4mm, and the device offers 25 pin and 49 pin tips, so the therapist can adapt the treatment to the area and the skin concern.

At our Bridgwater salon we use the Derma R|F Pro for microneedling and radiofrequency skin treatments. Derma Group lists uses including fine lines and wrinkles, uneven texture, acne scarring, visible scarring, stretch marks and sagging or lax skin on the face and neck. Because the depth and energy can be adjusted, we can treat delicate areas more gently and use deeper settings where the skin is thicker. Improvements build gradually as the skin repairs itself over the following weeks, so a course of sessions spaced several weeks apart is usually recommended. What should I expect, and is it suitable for me?
Your first visit starts with a consultation covering your skin, medication and medical history, and a patch test before your first full session. Numbing cream may be applied first. During treatment you will feel pressure, warmth and a prickling sensation. Afterwards the skin is usually red and may feel warm, tight or slightly swollen for a few days, and tiny marks from the needles can be visible. You will be given aftercare advice, including sun protection. Results vary and we cannot guarantee a set outcome. It is not suitable during pregnancy, over active acne, infection or cold sores, with a pacemaker or metal implants in the area, or with some medications and skin conditions.

How is RF microneedling different from standard microneedling?
Standard microneedling creates tiny channels with needles alone. RF microneedling also delivers radiofrequency heat through the needles into the deeper layers of the skin, which is intended to add to the skin's repair response.
How many sessions will I need?
Most people have a course of sessions spaced several weeks apart, as the skin improves gradually. The number depends on your skin and the concern being treated, and your therapist will advise you at your consultation.
Is there downtime?
Expect redness and some warmth or swelling for a few days, and possibly tiny marks where the needles entered. Most people plan treatment so they can avoid make-up and strong sun for a short time afterwards.
Does it hurt?
Numbing cream is usually applied first. You will feel pressure, heat and prickling, and comfort varies by area. Settings can be adjusted during treatment.
