What is the A-C-E HF2000 and how does it work?

The A-C-E HF2000 is a high frequency machine from Marshalls Cosmetic Machines, a family-run UK supplier of clinic equipment. It produces a 30MHz high frequency current that is delivered through an extremely fine, medical use probe held just at the skin's surface over the vein. The energy is released in a fraction of a second and coagulates the tiny vessel, which then fades as the body naturally clears it over the following days and weeks. Because the energy is so concentrated, the surrounding skin is barely affected. The machine can run in continuous or pulse mode and energy is adjustable, so treatment can be matched to the size of the vein and the area.

What does Bright Smiles Beauty use it for?

At our Bridgwater salon we use it for thread vein removal on small, superficial veins, such as red or purple veins around the nose and cheeks or small clusters on the legs. The supplier also lists skin tags, age spots and blood spots among its uses, so ask us at your consultation if you have something else you would like looked at. What should I expect, and is it suitable for me?

Your first visit starts with a consultation covering your medical history, medication and skin, so your therapist can check the veins are suitable. Most people describe the sensation as a quick, sharp prick. Straight afterwards the area may look slightly red or raised, and tiny scabs can form and should be left to fall away on their own. Avoid heat, make-up on the area and sun exposure for a few days, and wear a high SPF. Results vary between people, some veins need more than one session, and new veins can still form over time.
