What is ElectroPulse body sculpting and how does it work?

ElectroPulse is a body sculpting machine from Marshalls Cosmetic Machines, a UK supplier of salon and clinic equipment. It uses a focused electromagnetic field to stimulate the muscles underneath the applicator, causing strong, rapid contractions that are far more frequent than you could produce in a normal workout. The applicators rest on the skin and are held in place with straps, so there is nothing to insert and no needles. The machine has four treatment handles, with two used at a time, so a pair of areas such as both sides of the abdomen or both buttocks can be treated together. Intensity is increased gradually during the session so it stays comfortable for you.

What does Bright Smiles Beauty use ElectroPulse for?

At our Bridgwater salon we use ElectroPulse to work the muscles of the tummy, bottom, thighs and arms, which are the areas the supplier lists for this machine. Clients often choose it alongside regular exercise to help with muscle tone and a firmer look to a particular area. Each session lasts around 30 minutes. The supplier suggests a course of six to eight treatments, with two to three sessions a week, and your therapist will recommend a plan that suits you. What should I expect, and is it suitable for me?

Your first visit starts with a consultation covering your health, medication and goals. During treatment you will feel intense, rhythmic muscle contractions and tapping, a bit like a hard workout, but you can lie back and relax. You can usually carry on with your day straight afterwards, and some people feel mild muscle ache for a day or two. Results vary from person to person and depend on lifestyle, so we cannot guarantee a set change in size or shape. It is not suitable during pregnancy, if you have a pacemaker, metal implants or electronic implants near the area, or certain heart and health conditions.
