What is the Laser Blaze Duo Beam Pro and how does it work?

The Laser Blaze Duo Beam Pro is the medical grade model in the Laser Blaze range from Marshalls Cosmetic Machines, a family-run UK supplier of clinic equipment. It is a Q-switched Nd:YAG laser with a dual rod design, CE marked as a medical device. Q-switched means the laser releases its energy in extremely short pulses of 6 to 8 billionths of a second. These pulses break tattoo ink and pigment into much smaller particles, which the body then gradually clears away over the following weeks. The 1064nm wavelength is used for darker inks such as black and blue and for deeper targets, and the 532nm wavelength for some red and warmer shades. It comes with interchangeable tips, including a dedicated tip for carbon laser facials, and the spot size can be adjusted from 1mm to 8mm.

What does Bright Smiles Beauty use the Laser Blaze Duo Beam Pro for?

At our Bridgwater salon we use it for tattoo removal and tattoo fading, for example to lighten an old design before a cover-up, including cosmetic tattooing such as semi permanent eyebrows and lip liner. We also use it for carbon laser facials, where a thin layer of carbon lotion is applied to the skin and then treated with the laser to leave the skin looking refreshed, and for fungal nail laser treatment, which the supplier lists among its medical grade uses. What should I expect, and is it suitable for me?

Your first visit starts with a consultation covering your medical history, medication and skin type, and a patch test on a small area of the tattoo. Sessions are spaced several weeks apart so the skin can heal and the body can clear the ink. The treatment feels like quick snaps against the skin, and the area may be red, raised or tender afterwards. Some pinpoint bleeding, swelling or blistering can occur, and you will be given aftercare advice to follow. We cannot promise complete removal, as some inks, especially bright colours, may only fade. Laser treatment is not suitable during pregnancy, on recently tanned skin or with some medications and skin conditions.
