What is dermaplaning and how is it done?

Dermaplaning is a manual exfoliation treatment. After cleansing and preparing the skin, your therapist holds it taut and uses a sterile surgical blade in short, light strokes to lift away the top layer of dead skin cells together with fine vellus hair, often called peach fuzz. The blade glides over the surface rather than cutting into the skin, so most clients find it painless and surprisingly relaxing. The result is a smoother, brighter-looking complexion that feels soft to the touch. Because the surface is so clean afterwards, skincare can sink in more easily and foundation tends to sit more evenly, which is why dermaplaning is a favourite before events and photographs.

How much does dermaplaning cost in Bridgwater?

We have two dermaplaning options. Basic Dermaplaning is £42 with a 45 minute appointment. It covers the cleanse, blade exfoliation and finishing products, and is a great way to keep your skin smooth as part of a regular routine. Deluxe Dermaplaning is £52 for one hour. It includes the same gentle exfoliation to remove dead skin and peach fuzz, then finishes with a 24K Gold Collagen Mask designed to hydrate and boost the skin's natural glow. Does hair grow back thicker after dermaplaning, and what is the aftercare?

A common worry is that hair will grow back darker or coarser. Vellus hair is fine and soft, and it is generally understood to regrow the same way, so you should not expect stubble. Results usually last a few weeks as skin naturally renews. Afterwards, skin is freshly exfoliated, so wear a high SPF, avoid strong sun, saunas and swimming for a day or two, and pause retinoids and exfoliating acids for a few days. Dermaplaning is not usually recommended over active breakouts, open cuts or certain skin conditions, and your therapist will check suitability at your appointment.
